One of the biggest pain points for our users has been the "download-upload" dance: downloading a file from the cloud, finding it in your downloads folder, and then uploading it to an editor. Today, we're making that process much smoother.
How It Works
Using the new integration is simple. When you visit the LanaPDF app, you'll see a new "Open from Google Drive" option. This launches the secure Google Drive Picker, allowing you to browse your cloud files and select the PDF you need.
LanaPDF handles the rest. We use the official Google Drive API to securely fetch your file directly into your browser. Because LanaPDF processes everything locally, your sensitive document never touches our servers—even when it's coming from the cloud.
Read-Only Access & Future Plans
As part of our commitment to privacy and security, we are launching this integration with Read-Only access. This means LanaPDF can open and display your documents, but we do not have permission to modify or delete files in your Google Drive. Once you've finished editing your document in LanaPDF, you can download the updated version to your device as usual.
We are exploring "Save to Drive" functionality for a future update, but for now, we've prioritized a secure, lightweight way to get your files into the editor instantly.
Automated Login & Privacy
We've designed this integration to be more than just a file loader. When you authenticate with Google to access your Drive, LanaPDF can automatically recognize your account. This means if you're a LanaPDF Pro member using the same Google account, you'll be signed in instantly.
Security remains our top priority. We use Google Identity Services and the latest OAuth protocols to ensure that we only access the specific files you authorize. Your privacy is protected by Google's industry-leading security standards and LanaPDF's local-first architecture.
